Good morning, folks!

It's been a while since I had seafood for dinner, and you know I don't mind with sudden cholesterol intake!

Okay, I'll cut to the chase.

The Place is Bengawan Seafood Restaurant, Located at Food Plaza, Outer Ring Road, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta Utara 021-33069387

- Cuisines : Seafood - Opening Hour : 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

- Parking Lot : Yes - Home Delivery : Yes (for people who lives around Pluit Location) - Wifi : No - Electrical plug in : No - Smoking Area : Yes - Air Conditioner : No

Cut to the chase, here is what I had for dinner last night,

Fried Squid or Calamari

(Cumi-Cumi Goreng Tepung)

Basically a well-cut squids, battered with eggs, seasonings and flours, and deep fried. THERE YOU HAVE IT! One portion of exquisite Crunchy Fried Squid, or so-called Calamari served in Italian fancy restaurant.

I can never get enough of it. One portion is just not enough. But I don't need to convince anyone that too much of them are not that good for heart. As excessive consumption of shrimp has shown to increase the risk of heart failure and stroke.

Water Spinach with Terasi (Kangkung Cah Terasi)

Terasi is also well known as Belacan, quite famous all over Asia. Terasi is basically a lump of spicy shrimp paste, with unique kind of smells, yet also sweet, salty, and sour all together. They are being pan-seared with a little bit of vegetable oil, and water spinach. Certainly one of my favourite traditional dish!

Mussels with Padang Sauce

(Kerang Hijau Saus Padang)

That one dish which lingered in my mind for long time after I ate it, The Mussels. They serve the mussels with all the shells of the clams just about opened, so I don't have to get both of my hands dirty by opening the clam one by one. And what was amazing is that the clams are all occupied with no empty meat at all! Seasoned with padang sauce, the flavor amplified even more!

Sweet Grilled Pompano

(Ikan Kuwe Bakar Manis)

Who ever forgets to order fish when visiting seafood restaurant?! See what I had on the photo, it is a sweet-grilled Pompano fish! To simplify the eating process, the cook put several cuts on them. Nevertheless, you have still be careful chewing them as bones are still there and you don't want them to get stucked on your throat!

(here is the tips from my mom, if you ever choke yourself of fish bones,

don't try to swallow it, don't try to cough it out, and don't stick anything to your throat. The right thing to do is, grab one full spoon of rice, chew it slowly, and swallow it all together, the rice will push the bone inside, and go drink some water afterwards. I've been there and done that when I was a little kid)

and now it is score time!

The score for Bengawan Seafood :

- Cozy : 2,5 - Clean : 2,5 - Service : 4

- Taste : 4,5

- Price : 5

- Overall rating : 4

My last opinion, I forgot the price of each menus, but with 2 glasses of tea(s), and a portion of rice, the total cost is IDR 129. Quite affordable for one small family dinner, right? So please let me know which one is your favourite Seafood Restaurants around Jakarta with the best taste and price? Maybe next time I will pay a visit!
